记录一下2023年时候申请美国B1旅行签证的过程。当时是要去参加2023年ASHG年会，但是最后签证下来的时候已经错过了ASHG，改成参加2024年的冷泉港会议了。

我的时间线

  • 2023年5月31日，提交DS-160，付款256 AUD
  • 6月7日，提交的abstract
  • 这期间护照到期，更新了护照耽误了一些时间
  • 预约面试：https://portal.ustraveldocs.com/?country=Australia&language=English
    • 尝试了一次emergency request，8月21日提交，8月23日得知失败
    • 频繁的刷网站，找到了珀斯8月31日的预定
    • 8月31日，去珀斯面试
  • 9月1日，回布里斯班后，邮件提交了一些补充材料
  • 9月11日，收到邮件确认补充材料收到
  • 10月6日，下签（但是通知下签的邮件是10月10日收到的）
  • 10月17日，按照要求寄了护照（19日抵达）
  • 11月3日，收到了贴有签证的护照，错过了11月1日开幕的会议

第二次申请（2025年）时间线

  • 16/May: Apply the Visa Waiver Program and post my passport to US council
  • 2/June: update information (passport photo, and full name in Chinese characters)
  • 12/June: QIMR application for travel, approved
  • 11/July: Visa Waiver Program, denied
  • 16/July-31/July: communicate with US visa service desk for a technical problem on their scheduling online portal
  • 22/Aug: got an interview spot at Perth (9:30am 28/Aug)
  • 27-28/Aug: travel to Perth
  • 29/Aug: send the required supplementary information by email
  • 30/Sep: cancel the trip (cancel the hotel booking and apply for refund of the ASHG registration fee)
  • 9/oct: receive the email to asking me to deliver my passport; post on - 10/oct (R438600026105579); delivered on 14/oct
  • 14-18/Oct：ASHG at Boston, USA
  • 10/Nov/2025：Get back my passport (visa only 1 year):
